I think if Lil Edie had seen a Doctor they would have pumped her full of pills and exploited her as meal ticket, like the Maysles. I love "Grey Gardens," original, the musical, & I'm looking forward to the new one. XoX

This documentary shows why it's not good to teach your children to expect something for nothing, and then not back them up when the money dries up.

   July 5th, 2008 at 11:03:50 If you watch the documentary, you will notice that after little Edie leaves the room from a fight, Big Edie will give her "take" on each fight. Listen closely to her side, and you will notice that each story shows that her mother fought for her when nobody else would. Her father was truly cruel to her, but her mother fought for her and protected her when she couldn't earn a living on her own.

   July 5th, 2008 at 12:12:47 I don't think Little Edie was "looney" at all. She was just overcome by the strong personality of her mother from the start of her life. When her mother finally died, she managed to live alone successfully for years. I don't know, though, how she managed to live in Grey Gardens surrounded by all the litter. But I would have loved to have known her. What fun!!
